About the Artist:
Michael is a digital artist from Vermont, (US). He uses digital tools to create colorful, thought provoking images that get people to think in a different way, or looking at something in a new light. With a passion for abstract and visionary art, high contrast and vibrant colors, his paintings often explore science fiction, space, or metaphysical themes. Michael strives to portray the vastness of deep space, or the wonder of the unknown. His art also draws on concepts from science, philosophy, the spirituality, in attempts to bring the unseen forces of reality into the visual realm, visualized through a rough and chaotic, painterly style. His ever growing body of work is a catalog of ideas, feelings and concepts that he has defined and refined via digital painting. Michael grew up in Vermont, and after high school, attended Champlain College in Burlington VT, and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Game Art and Animation. While at Champlain, Michael did both 2D and 3D work, and although he enjoyed creating in 3D programs such as Maya, Z-Brush and 3D Coat, he found himself quickly gravitating back to 2D concept painting. His work focuses mainly on a few different subjects: the wonder of space, our universe, and the infinite, as well as time, the unknown, and the perception the non-physical, in our physical world. Michael's main artistic influences include: John Berkey, Feng Zhu, Bob Ross, John Harris, Jackson Pollock, Adam Scott Miller and Wassily Kandinsky. In addition to painting, Michael also has some experience in photography, and enjoys taking a few shots while out and about in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont, and beyond! The "Photography" tab has a sample of some of his most interesting snapshots.
Important note:
In todays world, artificial intelligence is more prevalent than ever. Which is why it's important to note, none of Michael's art is AI generated, and each piece is done by hand, in various digital art programs.
Artistic statement: "I want to create something that speaks to the mind of the viewer.....an image that helps them to see something in a new way, or think something they’ve never thought. Science and technology have come so far, but we still don’t know what we don’t know, and I enjoy the challenge of transferring the unexplainable, into the seen, and the invisible, in the the graspable."
Roughly speaking, anything towards the top of the page, is Michael's most recent work, while items towards the bottom of the page, are older. In a way, this website acts as a record of Michael's work through time, and stands as an example of how his themes, styles, techniques and color choices, have evolved over the years.
